OxyNorm capsules are used to relieve moderate to severe pain. Your doctor, however, may prescribe it for another purpose. Ask your doctor if you have any questions about why it has been prescribed for you. As with all strong painkillers, your body may become used to you taking OxyNorm capsules.
Key facts. Oxycodone liquid capsules work in 30 to 60 minutes but wear off after 4 to 6 hours. Slow-release tablets can take up to 1 to 2 days to work fully but the pain relief will last longer. It’s possible to become addicted to oxycodone, but your doctor will explain how to reduce the risks of becoming addicted.

Initially 5 mg every 4–6 hours, dose to be increased if necessary according to severity of pain, some patients may require higher doses than the maximum daily dose; maximum 400 mg per day.
